Production planning / Ambest Brandcom
Compare the production, as well as the price.
Compare video production quotations on the same brief: creative development, filming, review, versions, rights and handover.
Start with a common brief
Make the assumptions comparable.
A lower total can describe less work. Give each production partner the same audience, message, planned uses and target date. Ask them to identify their assumptions, rather than compare two package names.
In Mumbai, a single accessible location and a multi-facility production can involve very different preparation and logistics. The right comparison describes the actual production and responsibilities; it does not start with an unsupported market price.
Proposal checklist
Ask what each total actually includes.
| Decision | What to compare | Question to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| Creative development | Research, treatment, script and storyboard. | Is the starting point a finished script or an open communication problem? |
| Production | People, products, filming locations, crew and recording requirements. | Who supplies access, permissions, contributors and product preparation? |
| Post-production | Edit, graphics, animation, voice, sound and finishing. | What is original work and what must the client supply? |
| Reviews | Approval stages and included feedback rounds. | Who consolidates feedback, and what counts as a changed brief? |
| Delivery | Masters, cutdowns, ratios, captions and language versions. | Are the output counts and specifications written down? |
| Rights and handover | Talent, music, archive, permitted use and working files. | Which rights expire, and who is responsible for storage? |
Before accepting
Resolve the differences in writing.
- Ask for the assumptions behind exclusions and optional items.
- Check dependencies before accepting the delivery date.
- Name the client’s factual, brand and final approval owners.
- Request an updated scope if the required work changes.
- Evaluate relevant work and the clarity of the production plan alongside the fee.
A proposal can confirm a production output. It cannot establish future sales, rankings or campaign results before the work is distributed and measured.
